Sustainable Tourism developed by the Wild Luxury Journeys
Tourism is an essential part of the global culture that allows people to explore different parts of the world, meet people with different backgrounds, and be introduced to unique cultures.
Every year, we have faced tremendous changes in the world’s climate and we witness the negative impacts caused by it. Climate change and its continued instability pose a significant threat to our country, which has maintained its nomadic way of life for centuries.
Tourism helps local communities improve their economic situation and it makes a specific contribution to their livelihoods. Tourism is not only one of the largest sectors that create economic growth in a country, but it is also an important sector that employs a large number of people with different experiences and skills. The integration of tourism with animal husbandry and handicrafts supports the development of local economies and also benefits communities by increasing employment.
The main objective of our tour company is to promote sustainable tourism by protecting and preserving natural wonders and cultural values that are the main components of the products and services of Mongolia's tourism. Using these assets properly, while respecting and protecting the interests of the local communities, will help improve their living standards.
Our company aims to give local people a clear understanding of the way we plan and manage tourism, and we hope to create public awareness of the real costs and benefits of tourism. Moreover, providing local people with permanent jobs and enhancing their professional development are not only the missions of our company, but also the basis of the company's sustainability. Our company’s policy is to employ only Mongolians in this endeavor.
In order to develop sustainable supply chains in the community and help grow the local economy, our tour company has a policy of selling our products and services to support local households, small entrepreneurs in the Gobi Desert, and craftspeople who sell locally-made products. One of the benefits of our company is that we implement a policy of sustainable tourism to improve tourists’ experiences and to address the needs of host communities. In particular, we have been promoting solidarity in the past in order to help local communities. Our company has provided different types of assistance to the people within the framework of social responsibility. Tourists who have taken trips to Mongolia through our company have contributed to the people in local communities in many ways.
The reason we chose the South Gobi province, which is a scarcely populated area in Mongolia, in the framework of social responsibility, is because this area exhibits a poor quality of life, unfavorable living conditions, poor economic development, a harsh climate, poor infrastructure, and remoteness. On the other hand, it is a main tourist destination with comparatively unique natural sites, herding traditions, and hardworking people who are trying to create a better life in their harsh climate. By considering all of these factors, our company provides support to the local people and children of the South Gobi province every year. We want to encourage and further extend our initiatives in collaboration with our tourists.

About 36.2% of Mongolia's total population or 1.3 million children are under the age of 17. Over 3000 of them are orphans, while about 36,000 are half-orphans. There are about 43 orphans in the South Gobi province as of December of 2022. The main focus of our company are these children who are the future citizens of our country. We offer a choice to our customers to contribute financial assistance for the purchase of books, textbooks, school supplies, and clothes that will enable these orphaned children to learn and thrive.

There are over 1,400 public and private kindergartens in our country, of which 266,000 children are in preschool education in more than 900 state-owned kindergartens. State-owned kindergartens in South Gobi province only have a few toys and educational accessories for kids because of the insufficient state budget. So, we offer a choice that our customers provide some financial assistance for the purchase of toys, which develop children’s cognitive skills, and learning materials in the kindergarten of Hanhongor or Bayandalai soum in South Gobi province.

Our next recommendation for our customers is to donate necessary medical supplies and devices to the soum or village hospital in a remote area, which is about 600 km away from Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. The hospitals in most of the villages of South Gobi province lack medical equipment, such as blood pressure monitors and stethoscopes, as well as devices such as ventilators etc. There are some hospitals in the Gobi Desert that don’t have special devices and necessary facilities.

According to researchers, Mongolia is the 10th most vulnerable country in the world with respect to the effects of climate change based on its geographical location and the extreme climate of the mainland. Due to the impact of the world’s climate, natural disasters called “Dzud” or drought often occur in the Gobi region. Because of the lack of snowfall and drought, herders can lose their animals in a natural disaster and remain without a source of livelihood. We give our customers the option to purchase livestock for herders in order to help their family and provide them with financial assistance to buy clothes, livestock and food supplies.

In Mongolia, one out of every 400 children are born with Down's syndrome. In recent years, many children with Down's syndrome and autism have been born. One of the parents of these children needs to care for the child without working, but in reality, they need to work while taking care of their children. A certain amount of cash is needed for them to buy equipment to run a workshop in the local area. So, we provide an option to our customers to help them buy sewing machines, raw materials and supplies, carpenter's tools, and other equipment needed to start a family business, or to help them purchase a piece of land for planting vegetables, etc. This means our customers are helping the children with Down's syndrome and autism through their parents. This assistance will help the parents have a certain income, which they can spend on medical expenditures and education for their children.

There is a Buddhist temple in Dalanzadgad town of South Gobi province. The temple has around 20 people, including 14 monks and 6 staff. As part of our culture, providing nutritious food to the monks who are studying Buddhist teachings and philosophy is one of the basic needs to ensure their comfort. We offer our customers a way to help the monks keep fit and energetic to concentrate on their studies. Aside from that, our customers can also provide robes to the monks as gifts.
